Sustainable Land Management and Biodiversity Conservation


19-20 November 2019

The GEF5 Sustainable Land Management project at the UNDP, in close collaboration with the Department of Environment, Fisheries and Forestry; Western Cape Department of Agriculture and the Endangered Wildlife Trust are hosting a 2-day interactive conference on the use and application of drones as a monitoring and assessment tool in the agriculture and conservation sector.

What is it About

The conference intends to allow opportunity to users, practitioners, service providers, policy and decision makers within the natural resource management field to interact, share lessons and build networks towards using drone and related technology in achieving sustainable land management and conservation objectives.

You are kindly invited as an important stakeholder to attend the conference and present your work related to drone technology in the natural resource management field.

Speakers and programme


The programme is over two days from the 19th-20th November 2019.

Day 1: 08:30-17:30

Drones in conservation and agriculture, followed by a “drinks and demonstration” session and a spitbraai

Data analysis and legal barriers to drone innovation in South Africa
